Plastic baskets as dog muzzles

This article is from an IDCR guest author.

There are a number of things that can be accomplished with plastic — everything from plastic storage boxes to plastic basket muzzles can be made out of the material. Plastic truly is ubiquitous and an integral part of all our lives today. That said, this article is about training your dog using a muzzle of some sort.

There are many kinds of muzzles out there in the market today. Some are better than the others and it is up to you to choose the best one that will fulfill your needs. While it may seem like a task that involves excessive responsibility, there is someone other than me who’ll help you out when it comes to finding the best suited muzzle for the job. I am talking about your friendly neighborhood veterinarian of course. I will however talk about a couple of muzzle types that are you can buy and I’ll also talk about what situations they are best used in.

There are two major other kinds of muzzles that you need to be aware of — muzzles made out of leather and others made out of wire mesh or wire basket muzzles. Personally, I dislike using either of these and the reason for both is common and in my humble opinion, it is good common sense that prevents me using these. I also confirmed my ideas with my vet and he aid he couldn’t agree more and that leather and wire basket muzzles should only be used on dogs that are known to be excessively violent and aggressive from the outset. The problem that I am talking about?

The inability of your dog to pant when wearing a muzzle. Since dogs don’t sweat like us humans do, the only way they can cool off is by panting which is made impossible by some of these muzzles. Now wonder your dog doesn’t want to keep his muzzle on for long! Try a plastic muzzle and see how amazing the results are.
