Decorating Homemade Dog Treats

Making homemade dog treats for your pet can be such a fun activity. If you have children at home, get them involved too. They will love baking tasty treats for their pet and they will also learn a bit about homemade dog treats. If you have smaller children at home it’s not uncommon for them to be unable to participate in much of the actual baking process simply because they are too little. A great way to get the little ones involved in making homemade dog treats is to let them decorate them! Melted yogurt chips and colored sesame seeds are two of the easiest ways to decorate homemade dog treats.

It’s important that look into what foods can be harmful to dogs before you decorate your homemade dog treats. Most dog treat recipes that want a chocolate taste or appearance will use almost always use carob chips. You can also use brown yogurt, as long as there is no cocoa in them.

After trying countless dog recipes for homemade milk bones, my dogs liked this one the best. You can cut these treats into any shape that you would like and they are perfect for decorating. You can substitute the all purpose flour with oat for a crunchier dog treat and you can also substitute the egg with egg beaters if your dog has problems with eggs.
